Chicken Shawarma


Shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern dish that originated in the Ottoman Empire. Envision meat cut into thin slices and stacked in a cone-like shape, roasted on a slow-turning vertical rotisserie. Shawarma is traditionally made with lamb or mutton, but may also be made with chicken, turkey, beef, or veal. This is the perfect meal for any time of day. 

 Ingredients

The ingredients below will accommodate 6-10 sandwiches (about 2-4 lbs.)

Step 1

Combine all marination ingredients and then immerse the chicken into the mix. Marinate for at least 12 hours for better flavor.


Step 2

Once the chicken is done marinating, on your flat grill pan add olive oil and then the marinated chicken. Cook on medium heat until it's colored and cooked through.


Step 3

While the chicken is cooking, mix all sauce ingredients in the blender.


Step 4

When chicken is done cooking and slightly cooled, cut into pieces. Using flat bread or tortillas spread the salt with the cut chicken and add some sliced pickles. Optional to add cheese. Wrap the bread carefully, not too tight, and then fry on your flat grill pan (or panini press) with a light coating of olive oil. Once ready, cut each sandwich in half and then serve with the garlic sauce.
